Fighter pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell wore the Porsche Design Chronograph One in Tony Scott's era-defining blockbuster. Designed by Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche who designed the iconic Porsche 911, it was one of the very first steel watches with a black PVD coating—a forerunner of today's black-on-black "stealth" watches. Originally produced with the Orfina Swiss watch company, it features elements inspired by car dashboards including the prominent tachymeter scale.
